BioHello hello. Welcome to Glitter, Guts & Glue, the LiveJournal home for my thrift store finds and reconstructions as well as my own original crafty creations.
My name's Kayley, and I'm the girl who wants the world. Forget excelling in one thing or being mediocre at everything - I just want to do it all.
I write fiction and poetry, usually somewhat in the vein of fantasy. I read voraciously. I'm going to college to get my certification in Secondary English Education, but I'm highly considering running away to grad school to become a professor or a librarian instead. I like to paint and make messy charcoal sketches. I play guitar and bass and love nothing more than a good mix cd trade or slam-dancing at a fun local show. I make and read zines. I rescue odd things from thrift stores to breathe new life and beauty into them (some of which you'll find here). I am largely inspired by Francesca Lia Block, cartoons, indie girl rockers, faeries, vintage everything, and bright and shiny things.
And I craft and hot glue and throw on buttons and handstitch with love like nothing else.
All of this and more finds its way into my creations. Some girls may be made of sugar, spice, and everything nice, and maybe boys are made of snips, snails, and puppy dog tails, but I think real folks are made of all of this and more; we are made of equal parts glitter, guts, and glue, as are my creations and findings (well, except for maybe actual guts, but you get the picture). Lots of time, love, and creativity have been put into these babies, and I hope you like owning them as much as I have enjoyed making them and/or tracking them down for you :)
